Our History

Fides Lodge 246 of Sanborn, Minnesota, has a long and rich history.
The Lodge first met on March 7, 1902 and was chartered on Feb. 25, 1903. It was located above the city’s opera hall on Main Street.
The assembled members included: E.P. Dotson, W.A. Gleason, F.W. Stevens, G.E. Bartholemew, Michael Flaig, Sr., P.M. Dickerson, O.E. Bennett, J.P. Beynon, J.H. Schaumberg, M.J. Flaig and C.P. Davis, along with charter members John H. Posz and Victor Dotson.
The met Friday nights until dances in the Opera House became too loud. Meeting nights were then changed to Monday nights on May 3, 1929, and remain on Monday nights to this day.
On June 20, 1948, the lodge bought the present church building from the German Evangelical Christ Congregation. The church obtained the lot originally on July 17, 1907. Fides Lodge 246 remains in the building to this day.
Later in 1948, a basement was built under the building  and a back addition was complete. Since the inception of the lodge, more than 250 men have joined the organization.
Fides Lodge 246 has been very active in the communities of Sanborn, Lamberton, Springfield and other area towns over the years contributing to worthwhile events, organizations and projects.
Lodges in Lamberton and Springfield closed and are now part of Fides Lodge No. 246.
