May 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm CDT
Presented by MWB Terry Tilton
Christian armies captured Jerusalem from Muslim control in 1099 during the Crusades and groups of pilgrims from across Western Europe started visiting the Holy Land. Many of them, however, was robbed and killed while crossing through Muslim lands. Around 1118, a French knight named Hugues de Payens created a military order with eight relatives and acquaintances calling it the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon – known as the Knights Templar. Ostensibly their purpose was to defend and protect these pilgrims. But legend says the Knights Templar found a treasure of great value under the Temple Mount, and thus began a phenomenal rise in their power and wealth. We will look at the Temple, the Knights Templar, and recent documents which tell about this discovery which if true has implications about the founding of America.
